AGPFI’s Widows Empowerment Programmes and the Women Advancement Trainings

The widows empowerment programme was initiated to address the foremost challenges faced by widows in many societies around the world.

This includes defacement, disinheritance and a relatively long mourning period of limited socio-economic activities. The most obvious effects are deepening poverty, acute stress, depression, loss of identity and self-esteem. The widowhood conditions expose women to psychological and physical abuse as well as a whole range of health-related problems

The Advocates For Global Peace Forum International are organizing entrepreneurial skill trainings and providing a voice as a platform for action upon the concerns of widows.

These includes – educating widows on their basic human rights, partnering with various AGPFI Ambassadors and support groups to train them on certain skills, empowering and assisting them in sourcing for funds through sponsorships and donations to enable them own businesses, monitor their progress and also go all the way to celebrate widows who have excelled in their chosen fields.

On the 28th of December, 2020. Advocates For Global Peace Forum International through Ambassador Chief Victor Okolo (Ike-Uke), an Uke born Humanitarian and philanthropist distributed hundreds of bags of rice and cooking items to the people of Uke in Anambra state, during the 5th annual Charity event of IKE UKE Foundation.

This comes after the widows were senstized against the dangers of covid-19 and also and trained on how to navigate the economic difficulties posed by the global pandemic
